MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Well it's a warm Christmas Day here in sunny Perth, and we are on our way to a traditional family BBQ followed my a swim in the pool to cool down.  The kids have opened there prezzies and the house looks slightly disheveled but that can wait till boxing day!

I would like to wish all of my friends and family a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

This is the card I will be delivering to my bestie today, it is also my very first Step Ladder card.  Every year we try to out WOW each other with our birthday and christmas creations and I think this time she might be slightly blown away as I had decided that if I as going to struggle through making this type of design for the first time I was definitely going to add all of the trimmings!!

I used two of my new Christmas digis from Tiddly Inks along with a free clip art tree, the sentiment is also a freebie from Pollycraft Designs.

Once I had the template worked out this card was a joy to decorate and hopefully it will be putting a huge smile on my besties face this Christmas.

A Musical Card

Santa Baby....

This card was an epic adventure, but I had this crazy idea to make my DH a musical card in the theme of 'Santa Baby' and I could not get the tune out of my head.

The hardest part of this creation was extracting the musical piece from a $2 Christmas bag and working out how to attach it to its new home, luckily I had bought 2 of the gift bags, because I totally destroyed the first one, at least i got to see  the inner workings of how it was put together.

Once attached to the card I set to work with the layers using Cheeky Christmas from The Greeting Farm, the perfect image for my 'Santa Baby' theme.  The idea was that she is sitting under the tree in the dark waiting for Santa to come down the chimney and turn on the lights....SURPRISE!!

Once the card was finished I recorded a verse of the Santa Baby song.

Materials Used; TGF Cheeky Christmas set, SU Season of Joy Stamp, SU Chocolate Chip, Rose Red and Wild Wasabi card stock, DP; Bo Bunny Crazy Love Collection, Copic Caio markers, Kaiser Craft rhinestones, Martha Stewart Crystal Glitter.

Let It Snow!

 Let It Snow!

I just loved participating in the latest Farm Fresh Friday challenge on Splendid Stampings blog.  Living in Western Australia, the closest I ever get to seeing snow is on the TV, so it was fun to imagine playing in the white stuff while making these wintry cards on a hot summers day!

I made two versions ready for Christmas, I used Toby and his sweet little twin sister Tabitha, they are having sooo much fun cutting it up on the slopes!

Material Used;  Snowboarding Toby digi from TGF, Tree stamp from Stampin Up's Loads of Love set, digi sentiment freebie from Pollycraft Designs,  copic caio markers, card stock from Stampin Up, DP from TGF & Kaiser Craft, glitter on the beanies, Crystalina Kindy Glitz and Polar White Flower Soft for the snow.

Glimmer Mist & Bubble Wrap

Playing with Glimmer Mist & Bubble Wrap

This week at Club Anya they are 'Tootin' About Spray Ink!', after a great tutorial by Traci it was time to get inspired and use my Glimmer Mist in a whole different way!  This morning I had a few minutes before work and as I was grabbing out some bubble wrap to wrap some breakables in (we are moving offices this week), the inspiration hit me, why not use my bubble wrap to create a bubbly patterned DP, so I quickly grabbed my Taffy Pink spray and some Melon Mambo card stock to experiment.

I simply sprayed the ink straight onto the bubble wrap and then pressed the card stock on top, left it somewhere to dry and hurried off to work.  To my surprise when I got home today and took a look the effect was quite something, lots of sparkly round bubbles just shimmering there little hearts out reflecting the light.  All I had to do then was put it together with Amazing Duo Anya and Hey Presto!  Here it is....

I just wish it would photograph a little better because it looks 200% better in person.

Materials Used;  TGF Amazing Duo Anya, Copic Ciao markers, SU Chocolate Chip, Melon Mambo and Soft Suede card stock, Kaiser Craft Hey Birdie DP, Kaiser Craft large pearl brad, SU Chocolate glitter, diamante trim from Lincraft

The Wedding Chest

The Wedding Chest

One of our long-time friends came to me quite a few weeks ago and asked me if I could decorate her wedding chest for their reception.  I must have looked a little blank on what that would be  ( I have not been to a wedding in years ) so she explained to me that is was a box to put the wedding cards in which would hold their gifts of money.  Annette had already bought a chest but it was looking quite plain and had no opening to post the cards.

It has taken me a few weeks to start this project, firstly because the wedding is not until October, but the main reason was because I was petrified that I would ruin the box when I attempted to cut the card slot!

This weekend I decided to be brave and start on the chest, and since it ended up being alot easier than I first thought to transform a plain box into something suitable for a wedding, I decided I would blog about the event step by step.  So I guess this would make this my first tutorial!

This is the chest I started with, it's more than just an ordinary chest but it is a little plain for a wedding, so I started by using a binding around all of the edges just to give it a little class, the binding is just glued on with some all-purpose glue.  As you can see by the picture below, it has made a world of difference to the chest already.

The next step was the scariest part for me, but I revved myself up and took to the box with a stanley knife and my trusty scissors.  Annette had given me the largest envelope she could find so that I could measure the size needed for any card situation!  The slot I finished with measures 8 x 1 inch, and although the edges are a little rough they are not visible as I lined them with some more binding.

The next step was to pretty the chest up to match the colour design of the wedding.  I found some gorgeous silk flowers at my local scrap shop and had picked up some satin ribbon when I purchased the binding at Lincraft.  I made a bow with the ribbon and attached that to the top of the box with the all-purpose glue, I then added one of the silk flowers to the bow and another to the side of the slot.  I finished the main decoration by adding a gorgeous pearl and diamonte ribbon slide to look like a little knob handle for the front of the chest with some more of the same glue.  It was at this point that I thought the chest needed binding along the sides as well and luckily I bought enough to do what I needed.

Next came the part I was looking forward to the most because I had already decided what stamp I was going to use and I knew it would be the perfect choice.  I inked up my Cake Topper Anya & Ian from TGF with my black memento and coloured them to match the bride and grooms suit and wedding dress.  The DP I used is just a wedding print from a generic pack I bought along time ago, but it works beautifully.  I printed the Bride and Grooms name along with the wedding date on some clear vellum and used some latte card stock as the backing, then I added the four gold brads and attached it to the front of the chest.

Now we have a beautiful wedding chest, one that I think Annette and Jeff with be very happy with and one that they will be able to display long after the wedding ceremony is over!

Materials Used; Basic Cardboard Chest, 4 Meters of Braided Binding, 24mm Satin Ribbon, All-Purpose Glue, Copic Ciao R00, E00, E02, RV02,W3, W5, W7, E51, E53, YG67, TGF Cake-Topper Stamp, DP from Stash, Clear Vellum, Latte Card Stock, Gold Brads and Large Pearl Ribbon Buckle.

Monkeying Around

This card was inspired by another great challenge at Meljens Designs; I See Double - You just have to use the SAME image twice on the one card.  I used the adorable Monkey Toes digi from Meljens for this challenge and I had my own personal challenge getting the baby monkey to look like he was sitting in his mummy's lap, but after a bit of snipping here and reattaching there I seem to have the two of them snuggling happily together.
